Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders, and cell therapy is a promising area of research that has the potential to reduce seizures, protect brain cells, and treat the underlying cause(s) of this disorder. At the 36th International Epilepsy Congress, WuXi Biology presented a poster describing a study that investigated the efficacy of a cell therapy drug in a kainic acid-induced seizure model in mice.

The authors demonstrated that treatment with this therapy significantly reduced seizure severity in a dose-dependent manner, as evidenced by improvements in the Racine scale and alleviation of seizure symptoms. The oscillation power of different brain frequency bands also showed differences after treatment with this cell therapy drug.
